About UPL

Terrace Estate is a property of 1200 acres, situated   8 Kms  from Naduvattam village in Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu. The property is planted with 625 acres of tea and a factory with a product capabilities of Green tea, Orthodox tea and Specialty tea.

The property was originally planted between 1910 and 1920 under the stewardship of Brooke Bond Limited. Using hybrid planting material, designed to reproduce the best qualities of both Assam and China tea, the estate by the 1960’s had established itself as one of the finest tea estates in South India with a consistent reputation for producing some of the finest tea in India and the highest prices for south Indian teas.

The property has a unique location. Lying at an altitude of between 6,500 ft. and 7,500 feet on the north west facing slopes of the Nilgiri hills, the estate is entirely enclosed within the Mukhurthi Wildlife Reserve. With gentle slopes, excellent soil and abundant water courses running throughout the property, the environmental conditions are the very best for producing tea of outstanding quality. Clear air, gentle weather and good rainfall, spread between two monsoons, provide the ideal conditions for high productivity.
